69 DT 1 Vape fitment was created by shyted

As the title suggests,is there anyone out there who has fitted VAPE to their DT1 or similar ?
Did you go through the ignition switch if so what relay did you enter into the circuit ?
Are you running with or without a battery?
If you have detailed pics could you post them please.
Has any one got a set of nice rear spokes for sale too?
Regards
Dave

In my experience, a VAPE without a battery struggles to run signals at idle.  A good "battery replacement" capacitor replacing the battery might fix this?

Your bike should have the headlight on-off switch in the key switch.  This makes it easy to wire the VAPE.  Simply connect the red from the VAPE regulator/rectifier to both battery charge wires (normally green) and the headlight circuit wire (yellow) that the original stator connected to.  (In other words, the one red wire on VAPE connects to 3 wires on the original harness.)

Leave the original rectifier in place in the harness if running a battery and you want to prevent the headlight coming on with battery power with engine off.  (This is especially helpful on later models that had the headlight on-off switch on left handlebar...  prevents battery going flat if bike is parked and headlight on switch on handlebar accidentally left on, not likely with key-controlled headlight as key would likely be "off" when parked)

Simply connect the VAPE ignition kill wire to the original Yamaha black or black/white kill wire that usually plugs in near the original ignition coil.  (VAPE kill wire is probably lighter blue?  See your diagram. Should be a single wire at the VAPE ignition coil/CDI that you'll be mounting in place of the original ignition coil)

Ignore the silly instructions requiring a "relay" on a magneto model.  That is only needed an a conventional battery-ignition bike like the AT electric start models.

Thanks Mark. I was un certain about the relay wether i would need it or not. As for the capacitor , i have seen quite a few for sale and wondered if it would work. I have also found out that RSS uses a capacitor on their system for some applications and they sell one . I think it might be advantageous to use LED, on the system too. I have read the instructions through several times that came with the unit. Hard to decifer as they refere to annotations on images by the side of the description but they refere to line drawings elswhere . Thanks again Mark.
