Affordable High Mount Front Fender for '70 AT1B was created by plated-2-stroke
Good morning,
I'm looking for any info regarding a possible solution for a affordable high mount front fender to be used temporarily for off road use on a 1970 AT1B, mostly to save my original stock fender when going into rough stuff. Not looking for anything period correct or concourse quality.
I don't want to spend big bucks on something like a genuine MX fender. Is there a potential source for new aftermarket equivalent? Possibly something sourced from a newer, less rare bike?
Thanks all,
Matt

The challenge is there aren't bolt holes like on the later models. You can usually find an aftermarket bracket on ebay that bolts to the lower fork tube pinch bolts and then use any universal fender you want.
I think the last one I bought was like $12... if you have a week or two I can look though my stuff and see if I have an extra.

I have some vintage mounting brackets and old plastic fenders. You should be able to find used fenders at a swap meet cheap.

I know Preston Petty made several models in the past, some with "integral" brackets (you drilled as appropriate). For the AT-1, which is a small bike, I would think even one of the 'standard' size front fenders would look rather large, but if you keep an eye out you might spot an early one W/O bracket that you could modify and maybe make your own bracket ?
Pretty pricey on eBay. I did spot this:
CIRCLE INDUSTRIES FRONT FENDER MOUNT UNIVERSAL W/ PRESTON PETTY FENDER AHRMA | eBay
About as inexpensive as I saw today, you would need to straighten the mount.
Spring is coming. Any swap meets near you?

I have a fender and mounting bracket that will work. Can send pics to your email if you are interested.
