took carb apart
it was dry but needs complete rebuild, crusty and corroded
some neaderthal cross-treaded the main jet holder into the now ruined bowl and main jet wrong size
going to take my time and get this one right!
any advice on what to wash tank out with - mostly so i can kill nasty ass smell - appreciated

If you have a station that sells E85 fill the tank with that and it will dissolve all the old gas deposits.  Safe disposal might be an issue though..  It's the ethanol that does the job which I think you can buy at hardware stores by the gallon....  a gallon and some sloshing would probably be enough.  Will attack rubber and possibly aluminum if left too long so best to put a block off plate over petcock mounting hole.
