DT1 Front Tire That Fits was created by Phils2888

I'm curious what tire you all are running on the front of your DT1's with the low front fender? I'm having a difficult time finding a 3.25x19 tire. I bought a 3.50 tire and it just doesn't quite make it within the stays. Thanks!

Pictures are always helpful... and more information...

Some things that have been noticed here before by the experts are incorrect fender stays...

Also, you don't say exactly which tire you are trying to fit... tires can vary widely in actual size from brand to brand and model to model... if nothing else, providing your information could save someone from the same fate.

Heidenau makes a 3.25 19 that is virtually identical to the original... the model is the K67
1963 YG1-T, 1965 MG1-T, Allstate 250, 1970 CT1b, 1971 R5, 1973 AT3MX, 1974 TS400L, 1975 RD350, 1976 DT175C, 1976 Husqvarna 250CR, 1981 DT175G, 1988 DT50, 1990 "Super" DT50, 1991 RT180, 2017 XT250

Mark, I have attached 5 photos. The rim, forks, fender and stays are all be stock for a 71 DT1. This is a bike I am piecing together. The tire is a Shinko 3.50x19 Dual Sport and as you can see is a tight fit between the forks without the fender. The tread is too wide for the fender and hits the rear bracket and attaching bolts. The fender itself is not wide enough for the tire. I was looking at the Heidenau K67 3.25x19, but just don’t want to buy another tire without seeing what others are running first.

Thanks Mark. Always nice to have another opinion on something.
I think I will go for the 3.25x19 Heidenau K67.

The fender in your pictures is from an AT1, not a DT1, as evidenced by the strongly curved front stays (on a DT1 the front stays would be nearly straight). The AT1 fender is slightly smaller than the DT1 fender, but the tire you are attempting to use should still fit without interference, I have seen the combination used many times. Perhaps slightly spreading the fork legs at the bottom by using all of the axle's width on the right side adjustment will help, the clearance is tight but it CAN be made to work with all of the stock parts you have pictured.
