1969 CT1 wiring diagram? was created by Dad3sons

Hello Forum Gods -

This site is amazing! I just joined in September. so much fun already...

I'm resurrecting a 1969 CT1 175. I only see a wiring diagram in the tech Library for a 71 CT1C.

Dumb question: the 1971 has turn signals. The 1969 does not. Is the wiring all the same (wire colors, switch positions chart, etc.) and just ignore the turn signal circuitry?

Or can anyone point me with a link to a diagram for a 1969?

Thanks in advance!!

Unfortunately you can't do that. In 1969 the law in the US that required the taillight to stay on without the engine running was not in place yet.

I'll try to attach the 69 diagram. Can be found in the 69-71 AT/CT Manual in the Tech Library.

Thanks Mark -

I actually looked in the service manual table of contents but obviously overlooked this -- thanks for pointing me in the right direction!!

To clarify, your wiring is simpler than the later US models... brown out of key switch runs the battery powered stuff like horn and brake light.

Taillight comes on with headlight in key on position 2 and is powered by the blue wire that also powers the gauge illumination bulbs... engine must be running for any of the "night only" lights to work.

Later US models (~1970) were required to keep the taillight on if the engine quit. So what they did was modify the key switch and wiring so the blue to the taillight had battery power with key in the lights-on position 2. Blue to dash lights still runs off engine on later models.

CT1C wiring is one year only. The switch is between the instruments. It is also different than the 72-73.
