Is the exhaust pipe the same on a 1970 DT1 and RT1 ?

In hindsight i'm guessing what #6 meant was, 'if' you had a DT250-360A those pipes are interchangeable between those two A models. Bit like AT1 & CT1. Anyway--have a happy day. Raining here.

Yes, that's the way I read it too... and I'm sure that's what he meant. ;)

I'll add some more info to SWM's response, "Yes" . . . that they use the same pipe.

I'll assume you were asking if the MX pipes were the same ... not the Enduro pipes

Having owned both 1970 MX pipes, I can unequivocally say, that the two pipes looked almost identical, but had "slightly" different construction, as well as differing part numbers ... which my original Yamaha part fiches also confirms.

Then in 1971, they both shared the same pipe
So obviously the pipes are interchangeable

:likey

If that's the case, then mucho apologies!

Funny how folks can interpret a statement in different ways!

Thanks everybody for all the replies I really appreciate it. The top in that is on the bike now I believe is from a 73? I will have to do some research here because I’m pretty sure I was asking questions back when I did this. I thought the red valve would make it run a lot better but it actually did not. Had a fresh bore new piston and ring, the bike just was never happy. Took it to a guy that Looked at it for a couple days he did not figure it out, he did remove the oil pump because he said it was not working, I need to send it to someone here that rebuilds them, The original cylinder was to believed to have a factory defect which was a tiny hole in it. I have another complete top band and a box that I got from someone here a few years ago ready to put on it. The stock pipe is in new condition looks great, runs a lot better without the baffle, I have no problem keeping it like that I just really wanted to try an expansion chamber I just love the sound of them, and that bike is probably my favorite to throw a leg over it of all the bikes in the stable... except for maybe this one
