This bike runs great. I've needed to do so little mechanically that I'm starting to pay attention to other details.
I found a lower chain guard in "the inventory, so onto the bike it goes. The upper chain guard was a mess, battery acid had ruined the top finish, and leaked down the front side. Don't care! This is not a restoration project, hit it with 100 grit, cleaned and painted silver!

Bike didn't have a rear pipe bracket to the shock. So I made one. I'll have to trim the tail at some point, and it's not original, but Don't Care! I just want to ride this bike! Looking forward to the next Gorman Enduro ride, or fest, or whatever, I'm stoked to bring this one out!

Yes, i thought of doing that but i only have a mig mag welder. Nice and gentle like from the outer edge inward . I agree it's the best results.

Worked the DT1 out big time this past weekend, ran W some errands Saturday, put about 24 miles on it (guessing because no working speedo yet), and it ran flawless. Then Sunday a group of us rode from Livermore to Mountain House, then ranch roads to a friends place, then home, maybe 30 miles. DT1 never missed a beat! 39 tooth rear sprocket made the ride so enjoyable, but man it was hot, 95 plus. Wherever we go, we take the bike show!

This bike runs great. I ride it alot, but not nearly as much as I'd like. I took it into the dirt,

Got the headlight working...well ALL the lights working!

And changed out this tire...

Yeah, that tire was pretty bad. That tire got around 250 miles put on it, including the dirt ride, before I noticed the cracking.
So, ordered a Shinko replacement, and set about changing it out.
This is all the CRUD scraped off the wheel. Obviously the front wheel sat flat, outside, on the DT2 donor bike that came with this DT1.

Levering the Shinko on, new rim strip & tube in there.

And, on the bike! Heading to Carnegie again if I get home from work early enough this week, or definitely this weekend.

Several weeks ago I called my paintless dent guy to see if he could remove a tank dent for me. He used hot melt glue pads, started with a slide hammer and then went to a hand dent lifter. Worked beautifully with zero paint damage. Eastwood and others sell a reasonably priced kit.

Apex, what size front tire shinko did you put on? I put on a 3.50 x 19 and when I finally got a low fender the tire did not fit under it. Shinko does not make a 3.25, so curious what you put on that fits?
Thanks.
