Yep, he sure did and I am super thankful B)

Will try to make this long story short
  • A few months back (August), 2 bikes appeared on FB marketplace - looked like junk so i ignored the ad.
  • A week or so goes by and the ad pops into my feed again and a closer look has me thinking those pipes are odd.
  • So I send that pic and a "whad'ya think" message to Enduronut and Dave quickly replies basically say'n "ad says they are track bikes, the pipes are MX and there's probably work done to the motors... go get em!"
  • Arrived at sellers residence a few hours later and am told I am in luck, apparently a few in front of me though none had turned up?
  • I took one look at the bikes and thought, junk but i'm after the pipes...however the workshop at this place was unreal...loads of bikes, 8 vintage chevys and a ton of memorabilia. I was told no pics and obliged but it was super cool to tour around there for an hour or so.
  • So after a tour of Shedzilla I say I'll take the bikes and all of sudden a bunch of parts are thrown in.
  • Cool!! amongst that lot there's 2 GYT pipes, Takasago mx wheels and a bunch more goodies :cheer:
  • Oh and there's something else, you want this?
  • Oh yeah for sure i would definitely take that Honda... "no, no it's not for sale but the bike behind." hmm, looks like an AT or CT...ahh, no it's ok. "it's part of the deal" ok I guess so, thanks...I think

  • So i loaded up the Van, headed home, stored all those bits and pieces here and there and became busy doing other stuff.
  • Until last Sunday - TBC

  • So Sunday arrives (nearly 5 months after purchase) and I'm home alone and need to tidy up the place and there seems to be no better way than to tear down these bikes to make some room.
  • After a few hours I'm done with the rollers and time to take apart the bike I had no interest in.
  • With sweat on my brow and a beer in my hand admiring my handiwork, I started wondering what I had and there's no better way to find out than to search through the Tech Library here :)
  • Looking at the model listings and I'm like, really could it be?
  • So I take a rag to the matching numbers motor and lo and behold Yay2

So there you have it folks! I am super thankful for Enduronut's ever helpful and quick response to my message :Buds

I know it ain't pretty, and shame it took me 5 months to find out, but I am very happy to have this rare machine that I'll slowly start bringing back to life...wonder how many of these made there way to Australia?

Dirtboy,
You really scored, well done!!
I picked up DT1-S few months ago and never noticed the DT1-S stamp on left engine case that's in your photo. Just looked at my DT1-S and it has same stamp. Never stop learning from Enduronut!!
Thanks

Hey thanks for your reply SWM. i was wondering if that stamp may have been a "user add on" or factory and happy that you checked which has me thinking they came from the factory like that

cheers

And I just checked mine - both ( one is a matching numbers basket case or project and the other is a "survivor rider") have the DT1 S stamp on the case . The production number on each bike indicated that they were DT1 S models but this now confirms it in both cases.

Did any or many end up in USA....anyone know?
Does anyone on the Forum own one as I cannot remember anyone making mention of owning a DT1 S.
