My 6 year old daughter helped me clean the dirt/grease. Pass on what you have learned, so future generations will keep the vintage bikes. If not, the future generations will just let them rot away. I do have a couple bikes I will restore with her. a purple 1971 Yamaha HT 90 CC and a 1973 Purple Grape LT 100. I Will probably wait until she is older.

Once she masters a bicycle I have a 1998 PW 80 for her to learn on. This model has a centrifugal clutch, there is no clutch lever. I took her for a spin in the back alley and she had alot of fun.

EN and or Meis

What do you think about this? I know that polishing heads on muscle car engines will make more power. Porting and polishing the heads on muscle car engines gains decent power. I would think the same would hold true for this. The rough areas would make the air not as smooth and make it harder to flow into the engine. Since my engine is not ported maybe you don't think it will make any noticeable difference?

Cool you are getting your daughter involved! :cheer:

My son started on a TRX70 with a throttle limiter at age 5 to get used to using a throttle. When he mastered his bicycle without training wheels we put him on a vintage (of course) Z-50 and he never looked back! (he of course wanted it to be a miniature DT400 . . .

He now rides his GT80 with a clutch which was a really easy transition for him.

.

You can clean up any obvious casting flaws that you may find, but don't waste your time polishing anything . . . . you probably won't notice any difference in power.
Sometimes the roughness is preferred, as it helps keep the fuel particles in suspension, but you've got to know where, why, and when
If you want to learn the in and outs of porting, I know someone that would be happy to teach you . . . but not online!

I think we need to commission you to do a tabletop Porting Instruction Manual. It might be a good retirement income for you!

That is cool, they make training wheels for the PW models. I could fabricate something and throw harbor freight wheels on it. But I will just wait until she is old enough to ride without any training wheels.

I hope you are around another 30-40 years Mako. If you have a will, you should leave the Admin website info for your son.

Rumble Bee 1978 DT 400 is my endurofest bike. I will try to give it some attention this week. I am not concerned with cosmetics just yet. I have to clean another pipe out, then the rest I can do in a couple days.

I am taking 30 days vacation next month, will be doing alot of riding before endurofest B)

Ok, I am just going to get any big noticeable spots. I do have a large assortment of sand paper dremmel attachments, I bought the $80 summit racing kit and was going to use it for rebuilding engines, porting and polishing. And also a carbide bur set. I was planning on restoring cars but that idea is on hold until I retire and build a shop.
