Red line is 7000 on the DT250 .....so I take it that it pulls strong to at least there ?
Once you have at least 100 miles on your new top end....brief run ups thru the gears past red line will not hurt anything.
Where most damage occurs is prolonged high rpm running...say down the highway trying to see how fast a bike will go.
Well that's great feedback.....keep us posted on your machines performance.

7000 rpm or even a short trip to 7500 to 8000 will not hurt a DT250. these engines can pretty much handle it.
I got a DT400 that feels best anywhere from 6000 to 8000 rpm. these revs won't hurt these engines.
here is that DT400 zinging to 9500. of course I would never spin it that tight under a load and it would not produce any power there.it drops off drastically after 8000.

concerning this line -- Misc internal pipe repairs -time & material $115 min charge
What is an example of something that causes the extra charge?
Is it common on a pipe that appears in good condition from the outside?
Getting close to doing this but wondering about the chance of the cost increasing 50%

I maybe should have clarified a bit more.....sometimes we have customers that simply want their existing pipe repaired with no Sleeper mod. For example a rare 1968 DT1 pipe that has a loose baffle rolling around inside....the $115 min charge applies to that type of situation.
If you send in a pipe for the sleeper mod we do an examination of your pipe before any work begins and if their is additional repairs needed I will advise on the cost before any work begins.
Typically its minmal...say broken or stripped heat guard screws ...or if their are dents you want removed...
I hope this helps clarify things ?
