A 1975 DT400 Is new to me a I am new to this Forum. Hello, my name is Doug and i have a passion for anything with a engine. I have a wide variety of cars, trucks, and motorcycles and my recent purchase has brought me here looking for some good info from the people that probably know best. This 400 of mine is in "okay" condition but it is going to need a lot of attention to get it where i want it and i am sure i will be on here a lot through the rebuild of this bike. My first question to you all would be where to get a good copy of the factory service manual? I looked in the tech library but page 2 just gives me an error and i do not see one on the rest of the pages. i am happy to purchase a hard copy as i like them better when i am working in the shop and will just add it to my library for easy reference later.
Thanks in advance for any leads and i look forward to some insighfult chats. -Douglas

I work as a mechanic at a dealership, I stick mostly to the Japanese brands but I have some experience with the European stuff too. Lately it's been lots of side by sides, never would have guessed i would be working on cars at a motorcycle dealer! I own an xr100 and a crf250x also but no other yamahas right now, nothing street legal but my dt250

Hi folks! Just joined the community here, happy to find so many other people with the same interest. My story: Been living in Washington state for the last few years, and decided to get into motorcycles a few years back to better explore the state. Started off with a few street bikes, which have been a blast, but after a few too many times taking my old sport tourer along sandy mountain paths I decided that I clearly should be on something more suited to foresty adventure. In keeping with my previous 3 bikes (i.e. 1970s/80s broken down Yamahas), I found a decent-looking 1978 DT175, one owner bike, with the appropriate amount of neglect, and bought it to fix up. Happened to find a second identical bike for parts a month later, so ended up with TWO red 1978 DT175's but sadly only one title. Probably for the best because the only place I have to really work on these bikes is the back of my van! So I'm currently working on getting my first actual dirt bike running again, and hope to get some help from you all!
