Got to turn one shaft whenever attempting to select gears to get dogs to locate.
So slightly turn the sprocket back n forth in that last video while moving the gear lever.
If everything is as it should be internally you'll feel it engage. Well, i guess if everything on the otherside is as it should be too--which is why i suggested turning the drum manually without linkage--while manipulating a sprocket or clutch shaft shaft back & forth, if the clutch is off the shaft.

RT325 has covered it very well...  I'd like to add some pics from manual in case others might come along and view this thread

The 74-76 factory manual...  well..  it kind of SUCKS.  Not the best one at all.  Yamaha seems to sometimes leave out important details that were covered in earlier manuals or in later manuals...  sometimes not covered at all.

First, the shift linkage adjustment eccentric pin to center the "claw" in second gear.

Next, the goofy linkage at the shift lever simply needs to be installed in a straight line.

Speaking of that...  in your video of moving shift lever up and down, the lever hits the frame on the down movement well before the linkage moves all the way.

And most importantly, as said many times before the shafts must be spinning to shift.  No amount of frantic jiggling of the shift lever will get it to shift if trans shafts are not spinning.  (But I think you know that and perhaps a lot more than you're letting on?)

Be sure to take plenty of pictures of how your clutch is taken apart so you can reinstall it correctly

to clarify
when its stated shaft must be spinning to select gears
is just this turning it by hand?
or is there a better method?
cheers again

If your engine is in the bike and chain hooked up you can roll it.. without a chain move the drive sprocket by hand or even a socket that fits the nut… it just has to turn a bit to engage..
