Stand/Lift was created by Jammyyammy
Hi all - I need to change the rear brake shoes on my DT400B. Will this style of stand/lift be suitable to get the back wheel off the ground? Thanks....

I have one like that and it works fine. I can adjust the pad up or down with an allen wrench so I can use it on several different bikes. All you need is the rear wheel off the ground.

I have a cheap harbor freight one that looks somewhat like that but is useless to lift the bike without two people... and someone needs to keep standing on the pedal while a safety pin is installed or it un-latches itself half the time.

Most lifts don't go down far enough - the DT400 only has 220mm clearance. Bought one of these in the end...

Keep an eye on the little thrust washer for the lead screw. It has tiny ball bearings that fall out if it wasn't assembled and roll pinned with proper preload. I kept finding little steel balls on my garage floor and ended up noticing they came from that thrust washer. I had saved them, so I punched out the roll pin and added a standard washer to increase the preload and reassembled it with all the bearings. Been working great ever since. It resides on top of my lift table for raising the rear wheel while it is on the table.
