It is a Pulsarless kit. everything needed is already on the stator ignition wise.

did you find a kit for the DT400 Mono shock with a 12 volt lighting coil? I only found this one. www.rexs-speedshop.com/product/yz400-it2...ing-ignition-system/

It does not say anywhere but I am sure they send instructions like they did for my 1978 DT175 12 volt conversion. there is this in the listing.
Important: he F3T351 flywheel is a reduced depth item – the person fitting the kit MUST ensure there is clearance between the flywheel and any lighting coil fitted BEFORE starting the engine.

• Highest output self generating ignition available – no other system comes close to the spark power.

• Adjustable stator AND model specific ignition timing curve gives an unbeatable combination.

• The billet stator accepts a single stock 6 volt lighting coil*.

• Uses the standard flywheel for low vibration & tractability.

• Best for starting hot or cold, sparks from 150 RPM.

• New high power HT coil included

Capable of powering twin spark plug heads at full power, unlike other systems that lack sufficient power to do this.

*Only works where one single lighting coil is used – remove your flywheel and check first. Yamaha modified generators under service bulletins so you must see what system is on your machine, we cannot look for you.

Yes that's the exact one big dog and Turbodan. The rmk-13. I got it for the increased spark energy. I did assume I needed to add my lighting coil, but you are saying not the pulsar?

yeah, no pulsar needed on this ignition. you can transfer over your lighting coil if you like if you want to charge the battery and power the headlight.

Sounds great. Yah, I thought about getting the 12 volt lighting coil package with 12 volt reg, and all the 12 volt bulbs,, but that costs some coin. It's good that the rmk_13 replaces the pulsar. Thanks guys for clearing up the confusion. I really appreciate it. Frank Edit, yes my ignition has went out again so I figure replace it all. And the best thing it has higher spark energy which I would want regardless of what I would find in my oem system.

assuming all is well with the engine and carb, your bike ought to start a lot easier. it generates a spark at 150 rpm or so it says. it's in the quote on my earlier post.

I did go for the 12v kit. Got tired of bulbs blowing and batteries boiling. Other than that though I think we have the same hardware.

Eliminating the ancient and potentially problematic pulser coil is a plus. Variable ignition advance is a plus. I have mine set up about ten degrees retarded from dead center in the slot. I don't know if it's right on the money but it runs so well I don't feel like screwing with it.

Generates spark at 150 rpm. That's awesome brother. I will also try the mid point brother turbodan about stock. I try not to take the magneto off 2 many times cause I hate the thought of those magnets scraping the coils. But like anything I may end up like my carb coming off 15 or 20 times. Leave that to God. I splurged on amazon and got 4 pack spark plugs, 10w-30 transoil, motobatt mbt6n6 battery. Seems like everything I have bought is slowed in shipping or other. Including before Christ Mass I bought air filter, and new oil pump line. Oh well, it feels good to be free and spend.

I'll get a pic of where mine is set up. I wouldn't go for the middle, that's quite a bit further advanced from where it makes good power. I started there and have been pulling it back bit by bit ever since.

The place you want to be is MBT, minimum best timing. The least amount of advance required to produce full power. The compression ratio is low enough on these that they are fairly tolerant of excessive timing but you never want to push your luck.

I was at 145 lb before break in. I might as well check the compression. Last time I did check about 2 weeks ago I forgot to unhook the compression release and i was at 120 lbs.
