Without having directly done it i 'think' the tank will sit on the frame tubes that head down each side at the rear. Correct me if wrong but they're mounted by one bolt at the rear.

The tank fits over the frame rails, but then slides forward on the bump stops, when its fully located into the frame mounts the top yoke hits the upper rim of the tank, and like you say to the rear of the tank its mounted with a single bolt.I think this calls for some pictures, any ldeas on the tank cap

I just finished putting a MX tank on a RT3, it fit good just had to make brace to bolt it down in the rear.

As you can see the top yoke hits the the neck of the tank, all i can do is put spacers under the top yoke.Has anybody done this before,i thought 360 MX frames were identical to 360 RTs,or do they have different yokes

I don’t know about the yoke sizes, but can you lift up yer tank by the seat a little bit? Maybe it’s too tight or needs something to elevate that connection point… I know mine was close or an RT..

By lifting it at the rear doesnt make much difference. If the tank with rubbers is pushed all the way into the slots in the frame, moving it at the rear puts it out of line with the rest of the bike also

Thats with the spacer in place, still very close, and its pushed as far forward as possible..This could be an SC500 tank,or are 360/250/500 tanks identical, alli can think is that the mx tanks were liifted higher to accomodate the expansion chamber.

The tank that will fit is the 1972 RT2mx(black stripe) and DT2mx(red stripe) as in the photo above that does fit.
The 1973 MX250(yellow stripe), mx 360(red stripe) and sc500(black stripe) are a different frame, and different tank -although look similar in a photo.
