After looking at old ads and magazine articles, I came to the same conclusion...  only said "360" on the 1971 models.

Also, Yamaha didn't really "pinstripe" the tank in the conventional sense.  If you want to be "factory correct" the red was painted on the tank first, then the line was taped, then the tank was painted black.  Tape was removed leaving a red line.  I think it was Motodad24 that had the correct width tape for sale on ebay.
