1971 RT1MX emblem was created by Doctor K

Anyone out there know where I might find a repro emblem for the oil tank on a 1971 RT1MX?

Might be worth asking Diablo Cycles in Canada.

I know the online parts list seems to show an emblem with "Enduro" or "MX" added...  I seem to remember just a plain "360".  I found a brochure online that shows the complete 1971 model lineup and the Enduro had a plain "360" on the oil tank.  Not sure if there was a variation?

Anyway, a seller on ebay has the plain "360" they claim is genuine. (I don't know if it is or not)

There was no MX on the 250 or 360 as Mark says, just 250 or 360. I have a very original 71 250 MX. My 1970 250 MX does have the MX emblem but not the 71.

Thanks Mike!  Great to have an expert on those models chime in.

You're too kind Mark, what it means is that I am old and still, for some silly reason I still like old motorcycles!!!

I worshiped the DT1 & RT1 GYT kits/MXs pre 1972.  I still have a dream of finding a 71 RT1MX.  I like my 73 MX360 and it is way better than a 71 RT1MX BUT that black tank with Red pin stripes haunts me.

I agree. Of all my riders plus the vintage bikes I encounter at gatherings my RT1B gets more attention. (With the possible exception of my '68 Honda Mini Trail).
The hours spent riding my Enduros is not deducted from my life span.

Thanx guys! I just looked at google images and the RT1MX does seem to have an 'MX' below the 360 - I agree that the enduro appears to have just the 360. Painting the gloss black as we speak, with the red pinstripe on standby! Incidentally, I could use a "couple of stinking badges". What is the correct background color for the 1971 RT1MX badges?

The background color of the badges are black. With all due respects, the 1970 RT1MX had 360 MX on the oil tank. The 1971 has 360 only. I have a copy of the original advertisement. Please do what you wish with your bike, but if it is a 1971 black with red stripe, it did not have the MX below the 360. Your call.
