1968 DT1 tank paint finish was created by shyted
Just a quick question about the white paint finish on the 68 DT 1. Is the paint a flat white or is it candy ?
I know it's laid over black but ,for instance, the green CT1B i have is laid over white but is a candy finish.
So much so,that when you take a picture of it in different light, it appears to be two completely different colours.

Pearl white... not the same as "candy" but similar process.

Alan, you don't happen to have the document that shows what's supposed to go under the yellow on my 76 DT400 do you? I'm prepping it for paint along with the oil tank and the sealer I have is an off white color so want to be sure that's ok to use.

Yes Pearl White is a tri-stage paint. Base coat, mid coat and then clear. The black goes on first then tape off the stripes. Begin base coat....

Yes i got that too Al as you know.
Mark it was actually pearl i was on about not candy.
The reason i asked is i bought a headlamp bowl from an AT1 recently.
After a short time polishing it it looked really flat. By flat i mean no particles in the paint.
The other reason is i have my eye on a DT1. The paint is bubbled on the tank so i don't want to repaint it the wrong colour type as i know it's not from the plant that's on the bike.
Thanks for the replies .
Shyted.
