MY research has found the following: the 214 steering lock first appeared in 1970 on the XS. It was also used on some other street bikes.
The enduro fitment started in 1972.

A 1971 frame that showed up with one doesn't seem odd to me.

If I don't find a key DEET, maybe I can buy a lock with matching key from you. If not, I'll find one on EBAY.

Give the number and style of key (use DEET's photos) to a master locksmith and they should be able to cut one for you for £10 or less.
