Mine is super el-bendo to the point I can't even remove it from the cases. Worried if I start heating it up and banging at it I will damage the cases.

Sooo as the title says, looking for a monoshock era DT175 shift shaft please :)

If you take the clutch cover, and clutch off, it might be possible to grind the weld off, that holds the shift mech to the shaft, and then push the shift shaft out. Once it's out, then it can almost certainly be straightened by anyone with a press and a pair of V blocks. When straight, weld the mech back on and job done.

It's an option, but it'll never be the same again haha. Once bent it'll just bent back easier, and then I'm at the mercy of some welder who doesn't know these bikes and the dimensions of the shaft. Not to mention time and labor wise that's more money than a shaft would cost. I'm surprised for how many of these bikes there are there aren't any NOS shafts kicking around!

No problem if you can easily get a replacement shaft. But you will need to think of a way of getting the bent shaft out, without damaging the cases? A small air tool with a cutting disc should do the job.

I've only ever straightened them enough to get out using something good fitting over the shaft that fits right in with seal removed. Never broken a case yet "YET". Not necessarily on a 175 but!!.

I saw the NOS one just now, it's under the old -02 part number which is why I missed it. I noticed it's got a different design than the revised -03...with the revised one having a smaller diameter shank down the middle. I suspect both designs still fit though? Painful paying 130 CAD for a new shift shaft but I'm worried if I pay 70-80$ for a used one it will be potentially worn out in the bushing area.

This one below looks the most decent out of the used ones...but then I noticed the wear mark right about where it seats into the seal/bushing...so not sure if it's worn out there or has been bent and was rubbing for some time.

Are you talking about where I drew the arrow?  I think that's a snap ring groove?

Anyway, I've never come across one of the 78-81 shafts that was sloppy or worn.  It's not like the crappy 74-76 twin shock design.

There's no snap ring there as far as I know, just one on the side of the mechanism

This is the NOS one:

this design indeed feels a lot sturdier. I might just try my luck with the most decent looking used one.
