74-76 Yamaha DT175 was created by Dennis D

Looking to buy a 74-76 DT175. Prefer a bike that has a title.
Just seeing if there is anything out there. Prefer a 75 as I like
the tank graphics and the fact it has a 19" front wheel. Closer
to St. Louis the better. Thanks, Dennis

Pretty sure 74 and 75 both had 19" front wheel.  1976 had 21"  (I prefer the 21")

I agree on the graphics...  Even though cosmetically similar to 1975, 1976 had some other improvements...  76 model was the "most advanced" twin shock Yamaha 175 we got in the USA.  So 1976 does have a few "1976 only" parts.

74 and 75 DT175 models were almost identical mechanically, not cosmetically.  75 and 76 were almost identical cosmetically, but less identical mechanically than the 74-75.

I have a 1976 DT175C, I recently bought it a few months ago as I am starting to have trouble starting my big bore bikes (bad knees) I bought the bike sight unseen and the previous owner did not know the history of the bike. The only things I have done is put in my garage, I did notice the seat and taillight were loose and falling off, I also noticed the kicker has something wrong with it as it doesn’t turn the engine over and makes a clicking sound, I don’t know if it runs or if the engine is locked up. I just titled it in Texas yesterday as that is my home state, but the bike is located in Pensacola Florida, the below pictures are from the guy I bought it from, I will be back in Florida Monday if you want new or recent pictures. PM me if interested

Looks like a pretty nice 1976... rocking it in gear might help determine if it's locked up or if it's just a starter issue.

There are quite a few "misidentified" 1976 models out there... the fact that the graphics are almost identical to 1975 doesn't help.

1976 just said "Enduro" on the oil tank and exhaust heat shield instead of "Enduro 175"... but sometimes those emblems/decals are wrong due to a repaint.

Best visual is the 1976 has a "doglegged" frame brace tube from the swingarm pivot area to the upper rear shock mount. Tube has a slight bend in it to accommodate the forward mounted shocks in 1976. On a 1975, that tube is straight with no bend.

The bike is in decent shape, only showing 900 something miles on the speedometer, definitely a 1976 model per vin on frame and engine (matching) thanks MarkT, your idea was my plan for checking to see if the engine is locked up, either way the clutch side cover will be coming off before I start it to verify the condition of the kick lever mechanism before any attempts at starting it.

The 175s are great bikes. I currently have four of them. (70, 71, 75, 76)
And I intend to fill in the missing twin shock years if I can.
Good luck with your search!
