Ah, a man after my own heart, just with a lot more talent!
If I had to pick a fault with your post, it should be "My boys and I................!!"

Have a good round. I've not played for yonks and just noticed that I've still got a load of unused PROV1s in one of my cupboards. Probably no good now though - I think over time they absorb moisture. I used to put them on the radiator in the winter!

Success!
Very happy with the nickel plating results.
A gazillion nuts and bolts to go.
Will try the vapour blasting next week when the glass media arrives.
My son's friends think I'm a mad inventor

This afternoon has been a blast!
Any recommendations for protecting the cover?
The foot pegs look like the plating is in tact but I'll re-plate them anyway.

Those look like Webco (aftermarket) footpegs.
Covers would have been painted silver originally on that model.

Thanks Mark, I'd like to keep things original so I'll be giving them a bit of paint.
My mate who's living in Illinois has posted a load of parts for me and the 5.5mm wide masking tape for the tank stripe, so hopefully I'll start moving things forward.

I think today's Nickel plating went really well, very pleased with the results.
I'd recommend anyone to try it.

Lucked into a solution today.
I wanted some fort of mandrel to hold the chrome (and rust) fork nuts.
Looked up and spotted a pop-up basin plug in a storage box in my garage.
It was absolutely perfect for holding the nut and attaching to my battery drill.
Bit of drill assisted polishing and more nickel plating and here we are.

Thanks to my good friend Pete who is currently living in Illinois, I now have a load more parts for the bike.
The 5.5mm masking tape for the tanks will be put to good use in the next few weeks.
I can imagine getting the stripes correct will be a challenge, fingers crossed.
