Has anyone found some more modern style front brake cable guides to replace the not so functional bent wire guides?

I'm thinking something along the lines of the modern circular plastic liner in a sheet metal type of bracket setup that bolts to the triple clamps in the same position as the original wire ones.

I went to a local multi-brand dealer today to scope out the bikes they had and I didn't find any guides that were ideal, a few might be able to make work with some "massaging" etc., but before I jumped down the rabbit hole of trying to locate some I figured it was a good idea to ask around first.

Ultimately I'm looking for a setup that allows the cable to slide easily/nicely when the forks compress like it should. The wire ones don't allow the cable to slide so well. I've thought about just opening up the guide hole area a bit but wire guides aren't the greatest design to start with. I don't care about originality here, I'm looking for better functionality. I'll keep my original wire guides in a box.

Why not look to a modern fishing pole line guide...  I am not an angler, so do not know the correct terminology, but some of those high end fishing rods look to have some very high tech furniture on them.

Yup, I've found 2 guides from Yamaha that are still available and I'm thinking to use both, the one you linked to 23389 at the bottom and the 23317 at the top, but will probably modify the topYup, I've found 2 guides from Yamaha that are still available and I'm thinking to use both, the one you linked to 23389 at the bottom and the 23317 at the top, but will probably modify the top bracket to only have 1 hole.

I've been browsing the local multi-brand dealership looking for other options and so far I think these are probably the best. I "think" there's a top clamp from the XR line that might work but not sure any better than the 23317.  bracket to only have 1 hole.
