Right side crank seal holder was created by StiLfun

I have rebuilt 5 engines on 1972/73 Yamaha enduros, 125 & 175s. None of them have ever had the holder for the right crank seal when I take them apart. It is #25 on the crankcase - cylinder Dia. Do prior owners just leave them out when they are working on that side. Is it a critical part, I have never had a problem with seal coming out yet. I think it’s odd that all 5 have been missing this part. Thanks in advance

Seal retainer service bulletin came out in mid-1972.  Not sure when they started installing the retainer during production but the early models didn't have them.

1973 models were likely in production in mid-72.

If they realy want to escape they'll come out at an angle with only one retainer so may as well have two [or none]. I guess you're ok with none & new seals fitting tight in te case.
