Suggestions For Next Project. was created by Tinkicker
The DT is almost completed, I need to conduct a full throttle test with a new plug yet. I will run a couple of tanks of fuel through her first though. I have a feeling she is running rich at full throttle.
Anyway, the missus seems fairy open to sourcing another project, something I am diligently keeping simmering in the background.
This time I want to do something fun and since I do not have room for another full size bike, it will have to be small.
I am thinking of the GT80. It was never, to my knowledge, officially imported to the UK but spares seem reasonably easy to source. Even if it has no lights, it will not be hard to make up a new wiring loom if I source lights and switches.
Am I daft for taking one on?
The only one on ebay has been there for several months. The guy is a dreamer, he wants £700 for it. " Buy it as a Xmas present for the kids" his ad says. Yeah right. There would be some long faces on Xmas morning when they unwrapped that one.
He can keep it, it looks nothing but trouble.
If he asked for offers, I think I would struggle to offer £200 for it. It is a complete shed of a bike with more parts missing than present. You could have a sweepstake on how many holes there are in the bottom of that tank. Winner takes all...
Any other suggestions?

i thought about a GT80 before I got the LS2, and researched parts availability on ebay and found relatively abundant supply. And little guy so cute too. So i would make an offer...but 200 GBP seems a bit low if bike is relatively complete IMO
edit - I am on a boring biz call didn't read all the way down, if you need a tank and a zizllion other parts I would seek a complete, cleaner one and gladly pay 700 GBP for it because tank + other parts will bleed you dry

Thanks for the info.
That bike is just not for me.
Bent forks, twisted yokes, carb missing for who knows how long, engine full of water? no airbox, no handlebar switches, brackets such as rear brake light switch hacksawed off frame, no lighting, no speedo or bracketry. Tank looks rotted out at flange close to the seat and the exhaust has had a peashooter end welded in.
Far better ones show up occasionally.
A big problem with so many parts missing or destroyed is that in the UK you will be paying $20 for a part and $60 shipping from the USA.

Unless you're dead set on an enduro, what about a small cc 60's 70's Yamaha street scrambler, CS3 ,maybe?
