I agree. Most i have seen a CT1 175 bring at a auction or privite sell. Must admit it's a nice looking original bike! I don't see a problem with the winning bidder paying reading his post below after the auction was over. Happy to get it.

I am planning on selling one of my classic cars and am looking into some of the major car auction sites and have looked into BAT, it sure seems the items that sell on that website sell for above premium prices, to me personally it sounds too good to be true. Kinda like those auction sites that sell iPads for $11.50 or Xbox’s for $8.75. Although on a car forum I am on a guy was selling his Volvo with a LS & T56 swapped drivetrain and it sold for $55K and the consensus was that was about $25-$30K more than its worth, mind you he was a respected long standing member of the forum, I messaged him and asked if the deal was completed, as I’ve always said the deal is not complete till the moneys in the bank. He assured me it was paid for and the money was in the bank and the car was being picked up the following week. I am still skeptical of those some of the prices some of these bikes are bringing, especially with todays internet, consumers are usually well informed, I went into buy a truck camper and the first thing the salesman asked was did you research and already know what brand, model and accessories you want, in fact I had and knew the price point, the manufacturer did not sell directly to the public so I had to go through the local dealer and let him make his cut of the deal

One thing that eliminates non payers or jokers on BAT is you have to register and have a credit card on file to bid. If you win, the 5% percent auction fee is immediately taken out from the buyer so most people are not going to go thru all that trouble and decide there not paying for the vehicle and loose that 5%. BAT makes there profit only if a vehicle sells so they are also pretty resistant to reserve auctions and will decline to list your vehicle if you try to set a reserve to high.

BaT has been around almost 10 yrs. One thing about all of the auction houses is the so called experts who don’t know there. A** from a hole in the ground. You deal with that kind of Crap at car and bike shows all the time. I know first hand. Hagerty has a write up on BaT. I might sell one of my bikes on there sometime in the future

I'm pretty sure most if not all the high price sales have had the BaT professional photography and professional ad copy.
That makes a HUGE difference. In the old ebay days I got some great deals because some sellers borrowed Rick C's "Hasbrocam"... smeared mayo on the lens... posted one blurry, distorted photo... and described the object in 5 words or less... 3 of which were spelled wrong.
Pictures and ad copy make a big difference to many bidders... A guy i used to work with made a fortune on ebay mostly selling surplus laptops... several other sellers had the same items (You could buy pallets of refurbished corporate laptops back then... companies often replace all computers every 2 or 3 years and hundreds of a model would be available for a while) He did a really good job with his photos and descriptions... his sold out quick and for higher prices than other sellers with the same exact items from the same wholesaler.
