All of my 360 riders have the decomp valve in the front of the cylinder plus an auxiliary decomp valve from Harley Davidson in the spare spark plug hole.

But I still need more help as I get older. I don't have the leg strength. So this helps a lot by reducing the strength needed.

I can see the need some day to have to go riding with someone younger who can start the bikes for me. I still love riding the 360.
The hours spent riding my Enduros is not deducted from my life span.

Martin, as far as I know 1970 model was the only one without a decomp.

does the RT1 have a compression release like the ones on my DT360 or 400?
these seem to really work well when adjusted properly, I know they make a big difference because I have tested the kick with cable slacked out

The '74 360 and later 400s have a larger diameter decomp valve. This was also on the MX360. Bulletin # 381 is for the new replacement cylinder for the RT2/RT3 which has the same larger decomp valve. The hole exiting the cylinder wall is 6mm instead of 4.5mm. So it makes sense that the DT360 and 400 is more effective and more noticeable when it is not working. I have found that when the hole gets plugged on my RT3 it is not that noticeable.

I found a NOS RT3 cylinder for the larger decomp valve. I plan to try it on one of my RT3s.
