Bypassing main switch was created by Hockins

Ok so I got a good multimeter (thank you Mark) and have checked the magneto, coil, and set the points.  All reading good so far.   I'd like to test for spark without going through the main switch.  Do I need to bypass it somehow our will it spark even if the switch is bad?

If you simply unplug it at the white connectors under the tank, that will bypass the switch and allow the bike to start.

OK so I'm testing my coil with my new Rx1 meter and I'm getting a 4.2 ohm reading from the primary coil (black probe on coil frame and red probe to black tab). The spec says it should be .9 0hms. When I put red probe in spark cap and try and ground the other, I get no reading. I bought the coil from a guy on the forum so I'm pretty sure it's correct. Any and all help appreciated.

Another option--If you want to totaly bypass the loom just go straight from the mag black to the coil.

If ya testing the coil, primary is ok on low ohms scale but through the secondary you need it up in the thousands as will have--i dunno--thousands, & with the cap add another 5k or so. Guessing maybe 10k with cap still in?.
