I need to clean out a clogged exhaust. I’ve seen videos of putting them in a fire and sticking a heat gun up it. What’s your suggestion. TIA

Here's something small, landscout muffler i think. Need a bigger fire for the complete pipe. I used to get them excited with the lpg gas burner at work, then the compressed air. Can end up melting perforated steel inside if get too carried away. In a fire i guess it just sits there burning & smouldering away so in the morning when its settled down just shake it out or wash it out. Different people have different methods so whatever works. Sure wakes up a struggling motor if it's extremely restricted.

I don't have alot of experince with clogged pipes but I did encounter a clog with my new- to- me Bassani pipe for my CT1-C. After I fixed the engine to the piont whereit ran, the bike sounded very muffled and would bog badly. Hairy stuff was coming out of the end. I pulled the end cap off and looked in with a flash light. It was grey hairy stuff. I thought it was silencer packing but that came out with the end parts and was intact and not the same stuff. Ruiing the bike forced it up eneough where I could start to pull it out with a pick tool hosed-clamped to a long metal rod. I would poke it in and twist it to try and tangle it around like spagetti and pull clumps out...It was very dence. I would end up pushing the clump back into the pipe and I would have to run the bike to force it back. Did this 4-5 times unit it stopped blowing crap out. Really loud with no end so be ready. Must have been a nest for some critter.
Mine seemed to be a dry clog but some seem to be gook build up or a combo of both. Fire is not an option for me but I would try pouring some IPA in one end and see what happens. Be prepared. The black gook that comes out will stain anything forever. See how long it takes and how much comes out. I have discovered that liquid oven cleaner; 3 pack from Sam's Club makes a good degeaser.
I don't know if blasting water through a pipe is a good thing. Thinking that plugging up one end of the pipe with something, filling it with a nasty chemical like oven cleaner and letting it sit overnight then dumping it and blasting it out with a hose. Then chase out the water with IPA and letting it air out for awhile to be safe.
See what others say about their stories and methods. Good luck.

Here's an extreme case of my little 100 twin. One side was worse than the other but both were bad. Was like this right through up around the bend to the cylinder plus grown nearly closed in the gasket at the cylinder. As i said--extreme case.
