What is this thing? was created by BubbaSendsIt

Hello,

What is this thing?

I couldn't find the name of it on Google. I checked parts diagrams for a bunch of DT years and never saw one like it. The bike in this link has one too: suprememotos.com/yamaha/68230-yamaha-197...eage-with-title.html

Why it caught my eye is that it made me wonder that if the point of raising the fender is to prevent muddy tire jams, doesn't this piece just create a new point that can jam?

250 singles are my jam!

It's a fork brace. Was an aftermarket part used to stiffen the forks (minimized twisting).

It is a fork brace, to prevent them twisting. A metal mudguard, when fitted in that location, functions as a brace as well.
