Interchangeable oil tanks was created by Burrage

Hi guys, just started my 1973 DT3 250 restoration (DT1F Vin). New to this so expect lots of questions !!! I am looking for an oil tank. I have found a 72/72 dt360... looks similar, anyone know if it will fit??? Cheers

Yes I believe an RT2 oil tank is the same one used on your DT3...if that is what you're asking.

It's really important when looking for parts to understand the various models and years:-

250cc

1972 = DT2
1973 = DT3

360cc

1972 = RT2
1973 = RT3

Physically, the oil tanks on these are interchangeable.

The DT250 and DT360 bikes weren't introduced until 1974 and very few parts are interchangeable with the earlier ones.

You are doing the right thing by checking the VIN tables and visually checking the parts.

OK - tanks turned up - fits perfectly!! Just needs the change the decal and paint job!!! Thanks for your help guys .. also the bike is alive.. runs like crap.. but its running... now awaiting carb.
