Getting to know this bike slowly as I believe it has sat for a long time - originally bike would start and run for a few minutes and stall and also leaked fuel from the lower lines. Members suggested replacing the o ring 214-14147-00 so disassembled the carb and cleaned every passage I could see by spraying carb cleaner and removing and cleaning all parts that would come off our out. Found the idle air adjusting screw did not have the spring below it as shown in the diagrams I could locate and the choke was different also. I set the float level per the Clymer manual and put the throttle screw out 4 turns and the air screw out 1 1/4 turns. Bike will start first or second kick and runs around 3000 RPM with choke on and will slow down if I turn in the throttle screw but turning the air screw does not seem to do anything. I assume I might have a circuit still blocked as when take the choke off the engine will speed up as it gets more air but then seems to run out of fuel in a minute or so and stalls. It will run and not stall if I keep the choke on. I assume I need to do more cleaning, perhaps a soak in one of the carb cleaner buckets or an ultrasound clean but looking for any other suggestions or hints.

Likely a clogged pilot jet.

Have you cleaned the side mounted main jet in the bowl. All fuel except for the pilot is fed via that to the slide needle & all. Pilot of course just sucks out of the bowl--& choke. But after it starts & above idle it's over to the main jet feeding all above idle. With 'that' jet take it out of the holder as stuff gets behind it & poking it clean while in the holder just pokes it behind the jet then on startup it gets sucked back against it as sucks in reverse to a normal wain jet screwed to the base of the needle jet emulsion tube thingy.

also, i guess you took the emulsion tube out that the little Oring sits on as they grow corrosion & collect crap up around the small holes in that tube, & check the airblead to that tube from the mouth of the carb as can get blocked with crumbling air filter bits. With the pilot i just pull a strand out of my wire brush--"it's looking pretty bald these days"--or i use an acupuncture needle i got of my physio/acupuncture guy i think about 30 years ago.

Looks like it could use a real hood cleaning. A bath in an ultrasonic cleaner is best and then blow out individual pieces with compressed air. If you don’t have access to an ultrasonic machine, some people have success with carb cleaner. Complete disassembly is a must. If unsure of yourself to do this sent the carb or a bike shop for cleaning.
