Brake Shoe Safety was created by Grussell

Here is why its a must to change the brakes pads when doing a restoration. These fell apart sitting on the work bench.

When I bought my DT400 3 or 4 years ago I rode it around the block a few times and the brakes felt iffy, I had visions of the front locking up on me and bad things happening so I decided to put new brakes on, glad I did as they fell apart as I was taking them off!

I suspect that my DT125B has a delaminated front shoe right now because it squeaks from the front hub when you roll to stop without applying the front brake. It doesn't squeak if you use the front brake.

I parked it until I replace the shoes.

I recently bought my DT175E. The po reported he had installed new brake shoes front and rear. He also gave me several boxes of spare and used parts. In the bottom of one box were two pairs of brake does with no linings. I guess this thread answers the question of what happened to the linings.
