1972 Yamaha LT 2 100 rebuild was created by Chewy812

Hey gang new to this stuff... looking at a 72 or 73 Yamaha LT2 100 it needs some work like a kickstarter some new wiring. maybe a new clutch , brake cables and I’m guessing other stuff . Not sure if these parts are hard to come by or if it’s worth putting money into this style of bike . Thanks

Probably not too hard to come by.

Just allow for 2 steps forward, 1 step back scenario, but great satisfaction when you sort something out.

If possible, post some photos here so that the real experts can have a butchers at it.

Do you know what state the barrel/piston/crank are in?

And Welcome! from the UK.

I have No idea what state the engine is in since it’s missing the kick start. I haven’t bought it yet was trying to figure out if there’s a lot of parts out there and are they expensive.

Put the bike in gear. Preferably 4th or 5th...Rock back and forth gently and should be able to feel and/or hear the piston moving.... Do it gently as to not further any possible damage JUST in case it is locked up...

Or take of the left side cover off over the stator and try and turn the flywheel counter clock wise by hand.... I would try this first if possible

Always loved that color bike

To be honest, I'd pay $300 even if the engine was seized. Then again, I'm used to paying UK prices! :EEEK :EEEK :EEEK

I'm in the US.. I would pay $300... When will you have another chance??? That's what I always ask myself when considering a bike..

I always ask if an owner will take less UNLESS THEY know you are ALREADY getting a killer deal...

300 is pretty cheap. I’m not to familiar with Yamaha bikes and getting parts .. so is eBay the best site to get parts ? and I’m guessing getting a kickstart will be the first step .
