GT 50 dating was created by FT1-511 GT 50

Hi all ,
hope you can advise a new member ,
FT1-511 framed machine with low mudguards and silver/ blue tank decals.
This was a field bike without seat, lights and loom paperwork
Hoping to resurrect and possibly restore but struggling for year and correct parts.
Was this model sold in the UK?
I will post pics soon.
Any info would be a start
Thanks
Dave

Welcome! from near Salisbury, Dave!

Are you able to post photos? Also, there will be a model code stamped on the body of the carb somewhere. It will be faint and probably covered in crud, but it will be there!

Regards.

Thank for the response Alan, I am near Silverstone.
Bike is partially stripped so no complete pics but some shots attached.
Engine and frame share same number
Carb has TK on but no numbers on body only 16 which is bore size I guess?
Tyres are 14” rear and 15” front
So far I have removed, front wheel, forks, oil tank, fuel tank and mudguards. Tank looks original paint and sticker. Rest has been done in a lovely silver hammerite it seems!
Last ran 10 years ago as a field bike so tank is rusty inside and no spark.
Mag is wired direct to coil and no looms or lights fitted.
Any recommendations for parts would be good.
Many thanks again
Dave

Dave

Look on a flat surface in an area on the carb facing the barrel. Copy of a RD200DX Teikei carb attached.

Check out this guy in France for manuals.

I'm not saying that the one I've attached a link for is correct for your bike, but it's a starting point.

If a service manual turns up, it should have schedules of frame numbers vs markets sold to at the front, so you can ask any seller to look for this before buying.

This is the sort of thing - send him a message and ask him to look in the first few pages!

Carb should have the model code stamped in it as Alan said....

Another common place... but less reliable than the carb... is look over the cylinder carefully. Often there is a model code cast into the cylinder someplace along the base or around the reed valve. My guess is it may be a 1977 with a 375 model code.

Thanks for all that, I didn’t want to purchase manuals from Ebay without more info, I’ll try that.
I’ll have another look over the carb tomorrow but I’m sure there’s no other numbers.
I’ll keep you posted

Hi Mark
Thanks for that I’ll have a look over the cylinder tomorrow and take some more pics of the carb.
This is all assuming its still as it left the factory....
frame and Engine carry identical numbers so I’m hoping it’s still fairly standard.
