So I've been here for a few months now and just realized there was another user named cranky_dave on this forum, complete with the underscore.  I guess he's not a member anymore otherwise I wouldn't have been able to register the name.  

I thought I'd post here that I wouldn't have taken that name had I known.  
I'm not him and he's not me, unless I am in some kind of crazy alternate reality, in which case the name is the least of my worries.

Anyway, I'm Dave and only cranky occasionally.
 

Two of the exact same user names doesn't happen...

This forum software will show "you" (the person logged in viewing the post) as the author of a post if the original author is no longer a member... Everybody else will see their own name on that post. Nobody will see your name unless you wrote the post.

You can test this the next time you run across it by logging out and viewing the post that you didn't write again... I can't remember what it says, but if you're not logged in it won't have your name on it.

Here's an example...   I did not write the post below but it shows my name...  note it also says "visitor".  Anyone that looks at that same post when logged in will see their name, not mine.
