1976 DT 125 Stator was created by MACE6772

Looking for a stator for a 1976 Dt 125 , part # 444-81110-10. I have poured over pages of Ebay and cannot find one. Looking to members for help.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

An observation leading to a question for those more knowledgeable!

Both CMSNL and Partzilla indicate that the part number for the AT2/3 stator superseded to that for the DT125 - ie the 444 part that you're looking for. I was wondering, therefore, if an original AT2/3 stator could be used on a DT125? If yes, then this is in the UK.

Thanks for the reply/info. I will pass it along to my tech and expand my search here. I did not know the number changed.

Just to confirm, the part number for your DT125 didn't change, but the one for the earlier AT2/3 might have changed to your 444.....

If I remember correctly, the 444 version has a larger rotor and is slightly more powerful than the earlier 261 version.

They interchange as a set.  You can't "mix and match" components like trying to use an early 261 stator with a later 444 rotor.

Thanks for confirming, Mark.

At least that's a potential option, if only a temporary one until the right part(s) come along.

The parts list is confusing...  part numbers don't "supersede" except for the "assembly".  Obviously if you're going to replace the whole generator/starter with new it makes sense to install the updated version.  But if you are replacing components, you need to be careful and get the component that matches your other parts.

Another common (and maddening!) place this happens is pistons and rings.  Yamaha made ring groove design changes over the years...  sometimes they list the"alternate" parts in the parts list and while the "alternate" rings will be the right size for the bore, they might not be the correct design for your piston ring grooves...  you might need to also use the "alternate" piston that goes with the "alternate" rings (alternate parts are often listed with the location "0" in the parts list.).

Petcock seals are also a problem...  the seals listed are generally for the original petcock.  Those seals sometimes won't fit the new Yamaha replacement petcock assembly.

Between the updated part designs and the modern shared parts lists among similar models (that don't clearly ID if a part is for a 125 or 175 for example), finding correct parts can be challenging.
