Hello, the Seat has already arrived from Vietnam!

I ordered at the 15th of November and got it and the 6th of December. That was fast!

Here is a Picture of it, it fits pretty good:

I'm glad to have found a good solution with this Seat!

Now i need to find one Hinge and the Bracket, luckily i already have the seat lock part.
i'm making progress with my Yamaha and having fun!

my Next steps:
- Wiring --> not what i like the most ;-)
- try to find some good flasher lamps, which might be difficult. Any Ideas?

Not sure if I mentioned this already, but I do have European parts and service manuals, if you need any information.

Check out CMSNL for which other models used the same seat hinges and indicators/flashers. If you're struggling to find handlebar mounted ones, you can probably fit some to the headlight brackets, like as fitted to road bikes.

Wiring is all colour coded. Take your time, use plenty of light and clean the darker coloured wires in the headlight bucket - these can get dirty and are not always easily distinguished from each other.

If not already done on the bike, fit a 6v voltage regulator.

Probably not overly important, but your rear shock absorbers have been fitted back to front - reservoir is forward of the spring.

Do you have the chain guard(s)?

For our US members, the European models came with the low mounted front mudguard and "Yamaha Trail" instead of "Enduro".

Thank you very much, i do have a workshop manual book in German!

I bought the flashers at yambits UK and i also found the seat hinge on ebay.
Order Yambits

will start wiring today after work!

Another Question: An attentive observer from a Facebook Group noticed that I have a different cylinder head than the regular 1974 dt250a.
My cylinder head is curved and not straight. I tried to figure out the VIN number, but I can't.

Engine number says: *DT2-000762*
frame number says: *DT2-700553*
(i know, no matching Numbers, unfortunately...!)
Number on the Muffler End Pot says:
450-14753

Is there a way to find out the exact type of my Motorcycle? Could it be a 1975 or younger type? Or 1974 dt250a with the wrong engine? hopefully not..!

Happy for any advice, any idea, any comment! =) Thanks!

"450" is the model code for the Japanese market 1974 DT250.  Not that it means too much, except that it should be a 1974 or later DT250 and not a USA model.

From what I see, the appearance matches a 1974 German market 250.  I know from my conversations with Edgar (the founder of Powerdynamo in Germany) that in 1974 and possibly 1975 the German market 175 had a "CT2" VIN prefix.  So it makes sense the 250 may have used "DT2" in that timeframe.

As far as the cylinder head, yes that does not look correct.  Almost certainly someone installed a head (and likely cylinder) from a later model.  I believe the top end from the later twinshock and even the monoshock will fit the 1974-on cases.  You may be able to find clues by looking for identifying marks on the castings, looking closely at the intake manifold bolt pattern (twin shock had a different manifold bolt pattern than a monoshock), and the carb should have a stamped ID number.

VIN should be at the start of chapter 1 of your service manual. My manual shows VIN for 1974 European DT250 models starting at DT2-700101.

I would suggest that you might have a complete engine from a different/later bike.

just a short Update, i am still at the wiring. my uncle is helping me, he is very good at everything related to electronics. I'm positive that everything will turn out well!

We also wire up the repro indicators that I got from Yambits UK.

After that I hope everything works when the bike is running and I can get it on the road as soon as possible
