1976 Dt250 throttle cable help was created by ronzrx

I bought a throttle cable from HVC # 437-26311-02 for my 1976 Dt250 I'm working on for the last year. Factory lower cable not available. Can't find any other aftermarket cable for the 1975 1976 Dt250. Carb end of HVC cable is threaded my carb cap is not threaded. Oil pump end is missing adjustment piece that's on factory cable. What's a guy to do for a new throttle cable my original one is Toast. Everyone makes them only for the older bikes that I can find Thanks for any help

Just bought from HVC  myself. I have a 78 dt-250 and asked the same question about the carb end fittings. See cable end in pic (top one).

Yamahe shows those parts as part of the carb, not the cable and HVC didn't go the extra mile on this but it's good quality and I'm happy they help the old bikes. It's not readily available unless other forum members know.

Maybe look up the part numbers and try Ebay.

Sorry, It's the center cable end, not the top one in the pic.

I think you might be mixing up which is the oil pump cable and which is carb cable on your new cable?

Can't see end of new inner cable as it's out of your frame but carb "elbow" on old cable might unscrew and thread onto fitting of new cable?  End of that inner cable is small enough to thread through carb elbow.

New cable with elbow attached already is the OIL PUMP cable.  Nothing needs to be done there.

Anyway, try that.

I could be wrong.  Your pictures don't show enough.

If you look closely at your OLD CABLE I think you'll find the carb elbow with the clip groove CAN BE UNTHREADED from old cable?  Install OLD CARB ELBOW on NEW CABLE.

I can't really tell because your pictures don't show enough of the old cable at carb elbow end or the little lump of lead on end of new cable you think is oil cable.

Then the other branch of new cable goes to oil pump.  Fittings are all there.

Done.

(Forgive the caps but I apparently am not able to explain my thoughts very well and maybe the emphasis will help? )

maybe this will help...  Carb elbow is not a part of the cable as shown in parts diagram.

You're not stupid.  I've done the same kind of thing more than once.

Easy to get ends confused...  I've tried to remove oil pump elbow from old cable and it won't come off end of inner cable.  That's when I figured out I was mixed up.

Glad you got it figured out and hope new cable works well!
