So I got the DT400 running, feels like it’s running good, but there’s a noise I dislike. Some prior owner added some weird stuff to the oil line. Maybe years of four strokes has me freaked out for no reason? I’ll be replacing the oil line. If my video loaded, does it sound right? Thanks!

Well to start with… the oil pump will keep the bike running IF you know it’s working… just hoping won’t get you far down the road…. I would not run it until you know it’s correct, or are using mixed gas…

Good audio in the vid thanks. Sorry to say but there's lot of piston clearance overpowering other noises, but probably bearing noises in amongst it. So actualy alloy to metal noise. Cylinder off to look i'm afraid. Happy days--not. Welcome from NZ if ya new!!.

I think you are very wise to remove the shut off valve and filter from the oil line.  They could have starved the pump of oil which may have contributed to the wear you're hearing now.

Sorry about the bad news, and I just wonder what the previous owner was thinking, putting a filter on that line? It's only clean oil, it's not like it's being exposed to contaminants and being recirculated, as engine oil is. I hope whatever is wrong turns out to be something that's easily repairable.

Thanks. That was why I was wondering about lubrication. I looked at that setup and wondered why. The line appears smaller than stock to the valve
