nearing perfection with my never ending project!
want to increase pilot jet one size...stock per manual is #50
does anyone know the numbering scheme? e.g. next size up is 60? richer?

#60 is richer than 50. But i see your heading is 4 stroking, which indicates richness. I'm guessing it's 4 stroking when cruising on the needle. Little bit more info please. Idle mixture is adjustable on the screw of course, which i'm sure you know. How does i perform on wide open throttle, does it rev right out clean.

First thing I'd check if truly four stroking is the o ring seal to float bowl.

yep, the jet setter o-ring can cause running very rich problems under medium to heavy throttle if it does not seal.

thanks for the advice and info, sounds like you guys think i am on the rich side under that no-accel position
carb rebuilt and needle in middle per spec and new oring around main jet
screw the manual, I will lean the needle one groove and take a spin tomorrow and update
if i can lick this one condition, then this beast will be awesome

Just one more comment. Don't lean it off more than required on the needle. But sounds like you're more than safe to go one clip leaner. Is the pilot screw set about right--1.5 approx. I've seen them screwed right home which mucks things up closing throttle & bringing it on again. Reading above again 'screw the manual' i guess is pilot screw set to 1.5 turns. Cheers.

So I took a little work from home break and dropped the needle one groove and while not completely eliminated, this definitely improved the ridability by greatly reducing the surging at that "zero acceleration" speed!
I also adjusted the idle air bleed a bit - just a tad bit lean of rich "ba ba ba" if you get my drift :-)
