No spark, points movement? was created by Yamalol

I've been trying to sort out no spark on my 74 dt250 off and on for few months now. I discovered I had a bad source coil, but DEET did an excellent job taking care of that. Now I have everything back on, and still have no spark.

I have continuity from the black wire coming out of the stator, all the way to the plug boot, so I don't think I have a short and I have a new ignition coil with primary and secondary resistance just about within spec. I did notice while spinning the flywheel that the points don't seem to be moving. If they are moving, it's imperceptible with the naked eye. They appear to be closed. Any ideas? Thanks!

you will have to check the points timing and gap with a feeler gauge set and TDC location gauge and a buzzbox or light bulb. Sight alone will not tell you anything.

It would seem that you just re-installed the stator and did not set the timing.
The timing setting process requires you to adjust when the points just begin to open at the correct piston position.

*face palm* Thanks for reminding me of the obvious. Not sure how I forgot that. I set the timing and it fired right up.

Don't worry, we've all had our own moments like that and it was good of you to let us know how you sorted it. Gad you've got spark! :likey
