dt 400 headlight was created by greens8

Have converted dt400B to 12 volt, are there any options to just replace the standard sealed 6v unit or will I have to replace the whole assembly?

Apologies if I've asked this already, but what part of the world are you in?

Some of those sealed beams can, with care, be dismantled - those are the ones with 5 or 7 tangs holding the bulb in place. There are a couple of threads on the forum on this.

Personally, I'd measure the headlight assembly and then see which models in your part of the world with a replacement bulb capability were the same size - something like the RD125/200 spring to mind. I guess you could buy one from the UK if the postage isn't too penal.

If the headlight is in a fixed position in the chrome outer ring, make sure that the mounting hole from the ring to the headlight matches up.

Finally, you may well find some companies sell a generic headlight unit in the size you need.

Hi,
you just need a reflector, which fits into your bowl. The diameter 5 3/4" should fit, just type 5 3/4 in search of Ebay Australia. Of course this reflector should have the bulb holder, you need to be street legal. Dont know what this is in your country.
You could buy a reflector, look if it fits. If not, just send it back.

In Australia does the bulb come out of the reflector? If so, you should be able to find a bulb.

If it's a "sealed beam" just remove the entire glass bulb/reflector/lens assembly and replace with a 12v automotive light. VERY common.

H5001 is a common part number. You install it into your chrome ring. There are also versions with H4 replaceable bulbs.

What you're getting is a bulb that looks like #6 and that is held in by clips #17.

Wow that`s all really good info guys. I have bought a replacement should be the same dimensions and I`ll spray it silver, see how it looks. If its not right I will replace it, not worried about price until everything works perfectly. I haven`t taken the original lens apart yet, but I will tonight. (Mine`s a 75 400B not a 360 )
