DT360 slight carb issues was created by mdscott

Good morning.
Haven’t ridden the bike for about 6mo, so took it out for a short ride.
I was having surging and slight detention just off idle. Came home cleaned the carb, put the correct plug in (B9ES -opps), lowered the needle one clip. Way better now.

Power Dynamo ign.
I’m at sea level
Stock gearing
Has stock carb, air box, stock jets.
180 main
50 pilot
Air screw 1 1/2
Needle 4th clip (from top)
3.0 slide

Still has a slight, I guess I would call it a bonk (ping) just off idle, and decel. Noticeable on slight downhill with about 0-1/8 throttle.
Idles fine, mid range and full throttle are all good.
Flat road 360-380 head temp, outside temp 85 deg.
First step is to run the air screw in.
I mostly ride at 3500 ft,
The ping may just be the nature if the beast, big bore 360
Thanks Mark

Might be this?

yamaha-enduros.com/index.php/forums/1968...g-rt2?start=10#76802

Similar things have been discussed here before... Some have had success reducing or eliminating the "surge" with jetting and/or slide changes.

Seems to be more of a characteristic of the big bore reed valve engines?

Thanks Mark, I now remember that thread. Meis suggested putting back the needle clip in the middle position. Go to 55 pilot. I’ll give it a shot.
Thanks Mark

I’m going to be in SoCal (Fullerton) for about a month starting mid July, I’m taking the DT360. I’m bring a few pilot jets and I bought a 2.5 slide, so between doing stuff with grand daughters I’m ride the bike around try to get the jetting reasonable.
Meis is down there so I’ll be bugging him.
Thanks Mark
