Rear brake linkage 74 dt360 was created by meadeam

I should have installed it prior to putting the motor back. Am I missing something, or do I in fact need to take the motor out to install the brake linkage? I cannot finagle the spring in place.

anybody have a picture of the brake pedal and return spring installed in the frame? It isn't rocket surgery to put it back together, but I'm having a hard time believing it can't be done with the motor in the frame. Perhaps I am doing something wrong or missing a part?

My 360 is on my lift table right now, so I will take several photos this evening and upload them for you.

It can be done , if I remember corectly . You get the shaft halfway in the frame then get the spring in place on the arm then push it the rest of the way in. Or somthing like that.

This is a 1975 but they are the same set up.
Hard to get a good camera angle

You can see the top of the spring hooked on the arm behind the stop light switch linkage.
Also hook the stop light linkage before the shaft is pushed all the way in.
hope this helps

And one more thing, I think it makes things easier if you remove the brake pedal hight adjustment bolt.

Thanks! I think I was trying to install it as in the pictures... I'll go back out this evening and try to puzzle it out.

Well thanks for the help, but it is impossible to install with the motor in the frame. There just isn't any way to get the spring in position. The straight end of the spring has to clear the motor mount, and it cannot do that with the motor occupying the space.

I should have done this as part of the rolling chassis stage, I just didn't feel like it because the parts were super filthy and I wasn't in the mood to clean them just yet. GRRRRRRRRR!!

You're right. It looks like it would be much easier to install in this photo than it does in the other photos.
Lesson learned for all of us who followed your thread.
