Swing Arm Lube was created by Silo7

I guess maybe just a comment but may spark some conversation. So far, of the 6 bikes I have rebuilt, all of them did not have any grease in swing arm. I’ve concluded that this was a dealer prep item that was never performed? All of mine have come apart easily and well preserved so no complaints but just curious on member thoughts on why I keep finding no grease, none, clean without a trace. All are 75-76 DT’s ranging from 100B through 400C.

Gone are the days of RD350's & the like where they had grease nipples in the end of the swinging arm bolt & a hole in each bush steel sleeve so the grease go everywhere. Trouble was though that people would see a grease point & pump till it came out somewhere after pushing any seal or Oring in the end cap out of the way. First YG1T's had nipples on the brake cams & was a disaster with Mr Farmer & his grease gun haha. Worst thing with bikes is when no grease is wiped on the swingarm bolt so can't even get the arm out--hence what i had to do the other week. It's all a worry isn't it!!.

I'll link my pics in small form so don't hog your post but this is what i had to do recently & was a weekly occurance back in the days at work & did have occasions where they had to be cut or drilled out. Damn pain, & had a big old slow drill to keep chipping away until cleared the frame each end. But Fun One's were when the bolt went through the back of the motor on later trail bikes.
