Forgot to say that it seems the "striped" wires are hit and miss... like the black/white mentioned earlier... or the yellow/white... or the blue/red at the instrument bulbs.

Sometimes I find the stripes and some have solid colored wires without the stripes... if it's a solid color it would be the first color... for example solid blue instead of blue/red.

Happens a lot with the points ignitions models and the black or black/white that goes from points to coil and kill switches.

Here in the UK (and, I think, the rest of Europe), the blue/red wire is for the pilot/parking light and which I'm not sure that the US models had.

Good tip, thank you. BTW I have the 6th printing of the official service manual dated 1980 and these mistakes persist even there. However they did add little wire color name tags to the black and white schematic wire diagram, which is helpful if you don't have a color printer.
