75 and 6 were both orange and 76 was improved Portuguese. one was brighter orange than other which was more of red tint. I can remember which year was the brighter pumpkin orange and which year was the more red orange? Anybody?

I don't remember the difference for sure.. I think the 76 had the "redder" version.

Also the Chevy Orange Duplicolor ceramic engine paint is an exact match for the original Portuguese Orange... not close... perfect. I used it to carefully touch up some minor chips in an original tank and after the paint dried the previous chip locations were completely undetectable.

I am looking for the right color for my 2nd fuel- and oil tank set. The first one, i painted competition yellow,  the 2nd one i am working on recently, should be painted Portuguese Orange (or new Portuguese Orange ?)
Is the lighter color in the middle of the above picture the older Portuguese, and the left side the New Portuguese?
It´s for a 1975 European DT 250 (Type 512) , which one was OEM ?
A pitty, the thread from 2020 ends here, but maybe somebody can bring light into the dark

I don't know if this will help...  here are pictures for a 1976 DT250C in what appears to be a UK brochure someone posted here...  color is stated as the "New Portuguese".  Seems to be the darker shade?

Here is a picture of the 1975 RD350 I refreshed years ago.  It had been stored under a tarp in an airplane hanger for decades.  Original Portuguese Orange paint.  Seems to be the lighter shade.

@MarkT , thank you for this hint about Dupli Color Chevy orange. But another Problem appeared. Dupli Color has exactly 2 different spray cans chevy orange ceramic engine enamels, both 12 oz, both 500°C.
One is Code DE1620, the other is DE1607.
Do you have any idea, which one you had in use ?
Sorry for bothering, i want to get the correct color, here in Germany, all Motorcycle paint suppliers only have "new portuguese Orange" available
