Hi has anyone got the linkage that goes from the rear of the brake pedal to the brake switch spring on a 250/400 MX.
Best regards Vince

In the UK and Europe, the mono shock DTs were marketed as DT175MX, DT250MX etc.

Exactly Alan, I believe the "MX" is an abbreviation for "Mono Cross" Yamaha's mono shock.
Mine is heading off to new pastures tomorrow.

Pete, I just took a look at some UK/Europe sales brochures and Yamaha really seemed to push the monoshock suspension being developed for the "YZ moto-cross machines". They also pushed the similarity of the DT and the "YZ moto-cross" engines... which is also true.... the DT engines of that era are detuned YZ's.
I always thought the "MX" was used as a marketing term in Europe to link the DNA of the DT to the "YZ moto-cross" models they seemed to stress in the brochures... and in the USA, we use "MX" as shorthand for "motocross".
I never thought about the "MX" being shorthand for the name they gave the DeCarbon monoshock rear suspension... "Monocross". That makes sense. You might be correct.

Mark, "MX" is also shorthand for motocross here too.
I can't say for sure that it stands for Mono Cross in this instance, but having just asked Google, Wikipedia thinks so and they're never wrong

I did a bit more research and while the "MX" suffix was added in some countries with the introduction of the monoshock rear suspension in 1977, the earliest use of the "monocross" name for the rear suspension I could find in the UK/Euro DT brochures was in 1979... but I could only find a few brochures online. It would be interesting if someone had a DT---MX ad or brochure from overseas that referred to the suspension as "monocross" in 1977?
I looked into the USA YZ ads and brochures I've collected over the years and Yamaha called the YZ models "monocrossers" (instead of "motocrossers") in their 1976 advertisements. In my mind, that adds some credibility to the theory that Yamaha was using the "MX" suffix added to the DT's to mean "monocross".
I'm still leaning towards the overseas "MX" suffix meaning "moto cross" in the early days of the DT monoshock models because of how many times the 1977-78 UK/Euro brochures mentioned "moto cross" and did not use the term "monocross" at all in their advertising until 1979 as far as I could find.
