My 77 Dt400 carb is shot. If I buy a new VM34 from sudco the stock airbox won't fit, new carb is 58mm on airbox side, while the stock is approx 48mm. Will the stock throttle cable work? Has anyone done this? Thx in advance...

If Sudco can supply the VM jetted for your application, its worth considering for sure.

It's not likely to be possible to obtain any current 34mm carb with a 48mm intake, so you will need a stepdown adapter to reduce the size of the intake, or fit a bigger air cleaner hose.

Without the settings for the VM, something like this will be far easier to set up, and very well priced:

Cable won't work either without mods.  77 has a "tall slide cap"

What's wrong with your stock carb?  It's rare that they can't be fixed.
